Peppermint Chocolate Mousse
If you're looking for a fun and festive holiday dessert that comes together effortlessly, this Peppermint Chocolate Mousse is for you! Requiring just three ingredients, and a little planning ahead (the mousse mixture has to chill before beating), this magical melt-in-your-mouth mousse is so lovely piped into small stemmed glasses and garnished with crushed peppermint.
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
- 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract
- candy canes, crushed (for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring 1 cup heavy whipping cream to a simmer in a heavy medium saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat, add chocolate chips and let melt.
- Whisk peppermint extract into mixture until thoroughly combined and smooth.
- Transfer mixture to a glass bowl, cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Beat 1/4 cup heavy cream into chilled mousse mixture until light and fluffy.
- Pipe Peppermint Chocolate Mousse into small dessert dishes and garnish with crushed candy canes or peppermint candies.
