05 Dec Special of the day: Hot Toddies for the Holidays
Traditionally made with boiling water, a sweetener such as sugar or honey and some sort of spirit, many hot toddies offered in bars now are concocted of coffee, tea or cider, flavored with spices and spiked with bourbon, whiskey, rum, or sherry. Aficionados will tell you the quality of liquor definitely matters in a hot boozy beverage, and taking the time to rim glasses or garnish drinks with attractive and appetizing accoutrements will make your signature cocktail all the more special this time of year.
Whip up some warm hospitality by making a batch of hot buttered rum batter ahead of time and keeping it on hand in the fridge. Then when drop-in guests pop over, all you have to do is put the kettle on, break out the bottle of rum, and let the good times roll…
Simple by design, this week’s recipes require relatively few ingredients and minimal prep time to stir up some jolly holiday cheer at home. Raise a glass and toast the holidays with this week’s Special of the Day: Hot Toddies for the Holidays and recipes for Hot Buttered Rum, Happy Holidays Hot Toddies and Hot Appletini Tamales. Cheers!
