Special of the Day: Festive Foodie Gifts from Around Town

16 Dec Special of the Day: Festive Foodie Gifts from Around Town

George-Sydne-food-300x204Downtown Great Falls just keeps getting greater, and what a wonderful place to plan to do the shopping for all of the foodies on your Christmas list this year.

Pop into Wines by Wednesday (761.9463), 214 5th Street South, to find a splendid selection of wonderful wines, gourmet food gifts, specialty pastas, imported meats and cheese, and just in time for the holidays~ Rougie Mousse of Duck Foie Gras, a luxurious treat imported from the medieval town of Sarlat in France, selling for $29.95 for an 11.2 ounce package.

Head up the street to Big Sky Bread and Pastry (315.1747), #4 5th  Street South, for a wide variety of artisan breads and sweet delicacies including their signature Kouign Amann, a specialty of Brittany, France, $3.50, which would make a perfect hostess gift paired with a pound of Morning Light Coffee, 119 9th Street South.

Pick up a box or two of handmade truffles at Candy Masterpiece (727.5955), 120 Central Avenue, available in 13 different flavors, including cranberry nut and peppermint, made with their signature ganache recipe, $1.50 each, or my favorite~ Chocolate Covered Cherries at $2.00 a piece.

Mosy up Central Avenue to Motifs (452.6277) for the Home, 417 Central Avenue, for unique, eclectic and affordable accents and gifts. One of Motif’s owner Kattie Meyer’s favorite items in the store right now, and one your foodie friends might like, is a fabulous fish serving platter from a company called Beatriz Ball. Made of eco-friendly, 100% recycled aluminum, this beautiful easy-to-care-for platter can be used to serve foods and keep them cold or warm. The platter sells for $143.00. Meyer said it would be perfect to serve a smoked salmon on or a great baked fish, as it can be placed in the oven up to 350 degrees.  The tail even has a spot to put a dip or other garnish.

Take a break from shopping and treat yourself to a well-deserved peppermint mocha made with homemade syrup at Crooked Tree Coffee and Cakes (315.1221), 501 1st Avenue North, and while you’re there pick up a few macaron variety packs, featuring their popular French macarons in festive flavors like peppermint, hot chocolate and egg nog, for $8.

Clip the list we curated for you, head downtown Great Falls, and wrap up your shopping with this week’s Special of the Day: Festive Foodie Gifts from Around Town. Happy shopping!
