Head up the street to Big Sky Bread and Pastry (315.1747), #4 5th Street South, for a wide variety of artisan breads and sweet delicacies including their signature Kouign Amann, a specialty of Brittany, France, $3.50, which would make a perfect hostess gift paired with a pound of Morning Light Coffee, 119 9th Street South.
Pick up a box or two of handmade truffles at Candy Masterpiece (727.5955), 120 Central Avenue, available in 13 different flavors, including cranberry nut and peppermint, made with their signature ganache recipe, $1.50 each, or my favorite~ Chocolate Covered Cherries at $2.00 a piece.
Mosy up Central Avenue to Motifs (452.6277) for the Home, 417 Central Avenue, for unique, eclectic and affordable accents and gifts. One of Motif’s owner Kattie Meyer’s favorite items in the store right now, and one your foodie friends might like, is a fabulous fish serving platter from a company called Beatriz Ball. Made of eco-friendly, 100% recycled aluminum, this beautiful easy-to-care-for platter can be used to serve foods and keep them cold or warm. The platter sells for $143.00. Meyer said it would be perfect to serve a smoked salmon on or a great baked fish, as it can be placed in the oven up to 350 degrees. The tail even has a spot to put a dip or other garnish.
Take a break from shopping and treat yourself to a well-deserved peppermint mocha made with homemade syrup at Crooked Tree Coffee and Cakes (315.1221), 501 1st Avenue North, and while you’re there pick up a few macaron variety packs, featuring their popular French macarons in festive flavors like peppermint, hot chocolate and egg nog, for $8.
