13 Jul Building a Beautiful Board
A particularly well-presented Food & Wine post on May 7 caught my eye and my attention, an array of artfully arranged offerings, including artisan meats and cheeses, marinated artichoke hearts, olives, grapes, cherry tomatoes and seasoned nuts framed by stemless glasses of rosé playfully scattered across the perimeter of the shot. This sophisticated charcuterie spread was…antipasto and more, an all-new and vastly improved classic meat and cheese tray, all dressed up and ready to party.
And speaking of party, the idea of building a beautiful board seemed like the perfect excuse to gather some friends, procure something special to share, pop open a bottle of wine, and let the festivities begin!
Just home from an amazing adventure in Italy a few days prior and still reminiscing about the fabulous flavors from our trip, I buzzed down to Wines by Wednesday (214 5th Street South) to secure my party provisions: thinly sliced finocchiona (Tuscan fennel salami), wedges of cambozola and triple cream brie and a few bottles of Prosecco.
Keeping it simple and having everyone bring something made this by far the easiest party I have ever done! Having friends add their treasures to the board creation assembled and displayed on the island in the kitchen as they arrived meant guests could linger on the deck, sipping their wine and wander in at their whim to grab a bite or two of something wonderful.
Summer is for celebrating, I say, with this week’s Special of the Day~ Building a Beautiful Board. Happy effortless entertaining!
